Maine Road FC – the original fans’ club needs your help.
In 1955, a Supporters Club in Rusholme set up Maine Road FC, a semi-professional football club, to represent you, the fans of Manchester City.
As many of you may know, nearly 60 years later the club still performs strongly, playing their home games at Brantingham Road Stadium and narrowly missing out on promotion from the North West Counties Premier League in the last two seasons. The club has a clear philosophy – to give youngsters the chance to play regular football at a high standard. At a time when English football is criticised for not giving our youngest players decent opportunities, Maine Road FC’s approach is something for you all to be proud of.
The club is run by a dedicated committee who give up their time for the good of the club and because they are determined to see young kids, primarily City fans, given the opportunity to play football. Off the pitch, the club is currently financially stable but face a huge uphill balance to retain that during the 2014/15 season. The club has been unable to secure a title sponsor, leaving a huge hole in their budget, affecting their ability to hold on to the most talented youngsters and meaning they must rely on the generosity of people giving up their time and resources to maintain their Brantingham Road Stadium to the standard required by the league.
Maine Road FC is one of the last remaining links to the “old days” – the club use the old City crest, play in sky blue and white and proudly represent Manchester City’s fans week in week out.
Despite approaching numerous corporate sponsors, there has been limited interest in a full sponsorship package. They have received excellent support from the Didsbury Blues supporters club but the club needs your help to continue.
In an innovative move, the club has launched a crowdfunder website where you can donate anything that you can afford to keep this proud club operating to its maximum.
Donations of any value would be gratefully received but a £10 donation will see you rewarded with free entrance to one home league match in the 2014/15 season. A donation of £100 or more would see you rewarded with entrance to every Maine Road game this season with a cup of tea thrown in as well! In truth, your donation is worth much more than entrance to games though – it would help the club to maintain that proud tradition of developing young players and giving them the chance to play.

Maine Road FC play their home matches at Brantingham Road, entrance is £5 for adults and £3 for concessions. Their next home match is on Monday 1st September at 7:45pm. With City playing at the weekend, why not go down and support the club?
