MAN CITY 2 – 0 West Ham – PLAYER RATINGS

12 May

Hart - Barely involved in the match action, such was our near-complete dominance, but certainly played his part in the celebrations! - 6

Zabaleta - We will never tire of seeing his wholehearted approach pay dividends. In the final moments of the final game of a hugely demanding season, and with the title secured, he could have been forgiven for easing up and winding down. That, however, is not in his nature. Careered forward throughout, defended resolutely and was an imperious presence on the right - 8

Kompany - After a comfortable afternoon in which he shackled the danger of Carroll before grabbing a deserved goal, he raised his arms to lift our second Premier League title in just three years. More than most, he’s the backbone of this side - 7

Demichelis – As with his central defensive partner, dealt with the aerial battle superbly, never allowing Carroll time to bring the ball down and turn, and on the ball he was his usual assured, consistently positive self - 7

Kolarov - A forceful figure down the left at times but his best involvement was a 35 yard piledriver which was tipped just over the bar. His improvement this season should not be overlooked amidst our more fashionable stars - 6

Garcia – Did somewhat of a job in the aerial contests with Carroll but his hesitancy and poor touch on the ball were manifest once more. He has cut out the glaring errors that characterised his first campaign with the club but he’ll never be more than a mediocre replacement - 6

Y. Touré - Started the game in the type of mood that has led to many labelling him the player of the season, dictating the tempo and imposing his delicate brutality on proceedings. As the result was secured, he went into cruise mode before hobbling off towards the end - 8

Nasri - His goal to open the scoring was just reward for an impressive campaign in which he bounced back from two underwhelming years to showcase his natural ability. Often overlooked, his workrate is excellent and allied to his touch on the ball, he’s a serious player when in the mood - 8

Silva – As ever, he controlled the game. I’ve said this before and I’ll no doubt say it again but the fact that we’re used to his effortless brilliance shouldn’t diminish its impact. He’s at the peak of his talents, able to unlock opposition doors as he wishes and if only he could finish, he’d be rated more widely as one of the best in the world - 8

Aguero - Barely moved in the first half, which suggested he had been rushed back early from injury once again, but then found a freshness and tenacity after the break. It would have been lovely had he scored as he does cut a slightly dejected figure at times, but hopefully we can keep hold of him in the summer and see him banging in the goals for fun next year - 7

Džeko - This was very similar to his recent match-winning performances, just without the goals. His overall play, his touch, his link up work and general awareness are poor, and always have been, but he’s nothing if not a consistent goalscorer - 6

Subs

Fernandinho – Slotted in seamlessly to the action as he now looks ahead to the summer of a lifetime, representing his country in a home World Cup - 6

Milner – Barely touched the ball - No time to mark

Negredo – A very brief cameo - No time to mark

I saw Garcia pass the ball forward right through the centre circle – and it reached a City player and started an attack!

My man of the match – Nasri.

    Who’s yours?

As always a great read but your continuing tirade against Javi is both unjust and unnecessary. Since the new year Javi must be the most improved player (yes there was a lot to improve on) He has undoubtably been a key cog in our final 5 matches. Here’s to you Javi Garcia!

Javi Garcia was decent yesterday, your analysis of his performance yesterday is just plain wrong in my opinion. Anyway not a time to care about such minor details, the only one that matters is CHAMPIONS!

My man of the match is one of Yaya Toure and Samir Nasri. Yaya dictated the play and was great on the ball once again. He is a true power and his presence in our midfield make the opponents hesitant to run at our defence. He tracked runs , he intercepted ball he was fantastic. Surely deserved to be the PFA player of the year. Especially since we won the league.
Samir on the other hand was fantastic this season for our team. He even reached the Silva level (not fully) and reminded us what a great player he was for Arsenal. What a manager change can make… He broke the deadlock with his important first goal and that is why he could be the MOTM.

Garcia was quality yesterday, along with Silva and Nasri he was in contention for man of the match, so I also am disillusioned with your view on him, there still seems to be a minor hate campaign against him for what ever reason and it is unjust, as Rich said he has been integral in the run in.

Anyhow, I haven’t been able to write so much this season but I have certainly been reading, view from a blue has been a pleasure.

Garcia played really well yesterday. He’s got to be playing well if he’s keeping Fernandinho out of the team

What a brilliant day. I met Andy Morrison outside the ground

I hope Dzeko leaves, even if it’s just because of this guy. He’s so unappreciative. It’s absolutely inconceivable that Dzeko ever gets a higher rating than your beloved Silva and Toure hm?. These ratings are a joke.
