MAN CITY v Sunderland – The PREVIEW: City’s Probable Team

15 Apr

Such was the risk taken over Vincent Kompany’s fitness against Liverpool, there will surely be the temptation for Manuel Pellegrini to rest him for this match so as not to exaggerate any slight injury. Sunderland don’t possess anywhere near the same qualities of movement, pace and intensity as Liverpool’s attackers do, so there would not be as many qualms about including Joleon Lescott. On the left of the defence, Aleks Kolarov will replace Gael Clichy.

Aleks Kolarov, such a threat from dead ball situations, is a tempting 17/1 to grab the opening goal of the game. Open an account here with Paddy Power and receive a free welcome bet of up to £50!

Yaya Touré is sidelined for this encounter so Javi Garcia can expect to start. A personal opinion is that Garcia’s one-dimensional brand of hesitant holding midfield play will be superfluous on Wednesday and that Jack Rodwell should be handed an opportunity to impress, but that is unlikely to happen. After his vibrant and match-changing introduction at the weekend, James Milner is expected to feature at the expense of Jesus Navas, with Stevan Jovetic also hoping for a call up. Edin Dzeko is likely to drop to the bench with either Alvaro Negredo or Sergio Aguero, depending on the latter’s fitness, his replacement.

James Milner is an astonishing 12/1 to notch the first goal of the game with William Hill. Bet with them here!

Here is the side Pellegrini could select:

Manchester City 4-2-3-1 football formation

Referee: Martin Atkinson.

Prediction: MAN CITY 3 – 0 Sunderland – Our visitors have posed more than the occasional problem when we come face to face at the Stadium of Light, but in Manchester it has often been a different story. Here, with the pressure slightly off us and with the determination to bounce back from the weekend defeat burning strongly, we should have enough to dispose of Sunderland. Goals to be scored by Alvaro Negredo, Sergio Aguero and David Silva.

David Silva to open the scoring and City to run out 3-0 victors is a cracking 40/1 with Paddy Power. New customers get a free bet of up to £50 here!

Martin Demichelis, so powerful when corners are delivered into the box, is 100/1 to score the opener in a 4-0 City victory. Bet here with William Hill!

Another great article. This is my favourite sport related web-site

I don’t think we’ll win all our remaining games and I’m Still gutted about Sunday’s results but would it not be like football for City to win the league on Merseyside. I couldn’t bare Liverpool to win it. I thought Liverpool fans showed their lack of class on Sunday; they’re a club that can’t see past their own self pity.

Would be nice to put these to the sword. We need One of our strikers (all are capable) to really drive us home.

    City need to live brave.
Each and every game from this point we need to play with two forwards.
Milner needs to take Yaya’s place and Nasri and Navas need to battle for the other spot.
We are playing to win the league.
Therefore we need to livestrong and be brave.
Playing with one forward means we are playing for 2nd or 3rd place!

Start again, buzz word of the week…”deserve”, a 20th century invention… The st Augustine of the premier league…(if you exclude the best forgotten chickeny assault in the pub), Stevie g “deserves” a premier league medal… Did g best,Brady….rush deserve to play in the world cup???, I deserve a pay rise because I’m consistent in work, put on a good performance each week, am a team player & don’t rock the boat… An all round solid etc, will I get one?? No… I don’t think so, Zola, bergkamp etc “deserved” to win the champions league…shearer anyone????, so another words its touchy feely media crap…let’s not let him have it, Vincent… Sort your shit out,we can win this, p.s sorry if I sound insensitive on 25 years etc…I watched that game…horrible…business is business.

If Milner doesn’t start then there is something clearly wrong with the team selection process, as has been evident in recent weeks. He has been outstanding all season but rarely makes a start. Why is this?

Cause the manager speaks Spanish and he can only start 11. Milner is in effect third choice right mid field after Nasri and Navas when we play two up top, which we should always do, both home and away IMO.

If the hapless Garcia plays and Milner doesn’t I’ll be burning my season ticket! definitely! I’ve had enough of this manager and his bias for all things Spanish.

I am not a fan of Garcia but I have been truly impressed by his simple playing and cover for back 4 recently. And Milner should definitely start.

I don’t think that Pelegrini will start with just Aguero up front. He has shown that he wants a big forward in the lineup to lead the line and make room for others. Against Liverpool and Barca when we played only with Aguero he was very isolated and delivered little. So I would go for the Negredo-Aguero couple ahead in the hope that this will help both to find their post Christmas form. Even if this means we should remove Silva from his ideal no.10 role.

Milner should definitely start, Navas seems to be out of form.

By the way, could we win all the remaining matches???

With respect to Garcia recent performance, I would put Milner in the middle and have Navas in his position.
