MAN CITY v Chelsea – The PREVIEW: City’s Probable Team

23 Feb

Joe Hart will return in place of Costel Pantilimon, whilst Vincent Kompany is expected to have recovered from his calf strain and should partner Matija Nastasic in the heart of defence. After sitting out the comfortable FA Cup victory over Leeds, Gael Clichy is likely to start ahead of Aleks Kolarov.

Paddy Power are offering new customers a FREE £25 bet! They have plenty of specials for City’s fixture against Chelsea, with Yaya Toure a teasing 10/1 to score the last goal of the game. James Milner to score the first goal is 14/1. Click here to open an account and claim your FREE £25 bet!

Further forward, Gareth Barry could replace Javi Garcia if he has recovered from his injury, although the option is there for Roberto Mancini to name both, with Yaya Toure is his more advanced role. James Milner should keep Samir Nasri out of the side, whilst Carlos Tevez has an exellent record against Chelsea and looks set to continue alongside Sergio Aguero.

Here is the side Mancini could select:

Manchester City 4-2-2-2 football formation

Referee: Andre Marriner

Prediction: MAN CITY 2 – 1 Chelsea: It should be a tight affair, with two very good teams who are not quite at their best. Goals to be scored by Sergio Aguero, Carlos Tevez and Juan Mata.

William Hill have some excellent odds for this match: Matija Nastasic is a startling 41/1 to score the first goal whilst Sergio Aguero to score first and City to win 2-1 is also tempting at 41/1. Bet here now!

Big game!!! It will be on loud and proud down in New Zealand! Come on city!

Fingers crossed we play our style and take it to Chelsea. Gonna be a good game! I think it might even be a 3-1 or 3-2 affair.

This is a game where City players should work their socks off. If there is one thing they should have learned from Liverpool game is not to leave a gap in midfield, esp when Lampard is playing there. He is a lot more like Gerrard sniffing around the box for loose balls and he has damn good ball kick much like Gerrard.

Rameries is the second one to keep an eye when City loses the ball behind Chelsea box. He is fast as a Cheetah and combine that with gap in midfield, it is a recipe for disaster.

Chelsea is not a physical team that depends on pace and quality of players like City. In such context, playing Nasri would be a good idea provided he puts some effort on the field.

Draw. Which suits City as we are now looking to defend 2nd rather then move 1st.
