MAN CITY 4 – 0 Leeds – PLAYER RATINGS

18 Feb

Pantilimon - Parried one free-kick away but was otherwise watching our attacking dominance. Leeds offered nothing going forward and as such, he was barely tested - 6

Zabaleta – Defensively supreme, winning every tackle, making interceptions and reading the game effortlessly. Advanced well, going close with one volley and linking up well with Silva and Milner - 7

K. Touré – Eased back into the side and looked assured, dealing comfortably with any rare visiting foray forward - 7

Nastasic – His touch, for a centre-back, is excellent. Knows when to clear the ball and when to play out from the back, and he was as unruffled as ever – 7

Kolarov - In the side to offer width down the right but with Leeds playing an open style, he wasn’t as much of an outlet as anticipated. Defensively untested - 6

Garcia – Aerially powerful, as ever, and sat in front of the defence, protecting it when necessary. Passing was better than usual but he could still find another gear in terms of intensity - 6

Y. Touré - After a hugely underwhelming season, this was back the rampaging, yet delicate, Yaya we occasionally see. His close control was excellent throughout, his first goal was clinically taken and he was an imposing, calming figure in the centre - 8

Milner - Facing his former club, he was, as usual, a bundle of energy, supporting Zabaleta down the right and drifting infield to great effect. Went close with one drive and can be pleased with his performance - 7

Silva – Flashes of his majestic brilliance. The interplay in the build-up to the first goal was sublime and his pass for Aguero’s second strike was even better. Far, far too good for Leeds - 8

Tévez - Provided that energy injection, setting the tempo with his constant harrying of the visiting backline. Wonderful flick to assist Yaya’s finish and looked sharper than he has done previously. Even though it was a scrappy finish, his goal should give him the confidence to kick on - 8

Aguero - A livewire throughout. Touches of immense quality mixed in with his terrific appetite to work the channels. Linked up superbly with those around him and deserved both his goals - 8

Subs

Rodwell – Closed down well, looking eager in the middle and should have opened his City goalscoring account but saw his header strike the bar - 6

Maicon – A couple of lovely touches in the final third but also some wasted crossing opportunities - 6

Dzeko – Saw one shot tipped wide - No time to mark

Please, Mr Mancini, get us some more very ordinary players….

Haha yeah for sure, I’d love for a few more of those “ordinary” players. You obviously don’t watch him enough to know that so much of our positive play runs through that little genius.

Good game. Good result. Start getting the season back on track with a good win vs Chelsea this weekend. Agueerroooooo!

john that comment is embarrassing and one of a man who has never been able to play the beautiful game, or in anyway understand it. You are an absolute moron.
On the subject, in my opinion it was a toss of a coin between the average Spaniard and Aguero for MOM.

BB you are too unkind. John didn’t write that Merlin was ‘average’ he wrote that he was ‘very ordinary.’ These are different things and you do John a dis-service.

Let me give you an example, you wrote that John is an ‘absolute moron’ which indicates a mental age of between 7 -12 whereas in my view he is a ‘complete tosser’ which means erh, well, let’s not go there :-)

Chin up John, we all get a bit of of a dig from time to time and usually deserve it :-)

On a more serious note, I gave Garcia 9 and MoM.

Forget the footballing issues, the running of his studs down the back of Michael Browns calf to teach the aggravating little git a lesson for winding up Yaya was worth a 9 for that alone!
