MAN CITY March Player of the Month – Vote Here!

28 Mar

March was most certainly a mixed month for City, with the Blues recording three wins, a pair of defeats and a solitary draw, but it also saw Manchester United replace us at the top of the Premier League. Here are the players who impressed me the most this past month:

Joe Hart – Only kept one clean sheet from six games, which will have disappointed him, but was solid enough without being spectacular. His best performance was probably against Swansea when he managed to keep out Scott Sinclair’s penalty, but he couldn’t have done much to prevent any of the goals we conceded in March. My average rating for him over the month was 6.41

Kolo Touré – Started off the month at rightback against Bolton, replacing the injured Pablo Zabaleta, but then had a run in the side in the centre of defence, following the absences of Vincent Kompany and Joleon Lescott. Looked increasingly more settled at March wore on, standing up well to the physical test posed by Stoke and was resilient in the victory over Chelsea. My average rating for him over the month was 6.66

Gael Clichy – His improved form kept Aleks Kolarov out of side for the most part of the month, with the Frenchman featuring in five of the six games. He scored the vital opening goal against Bolton, albeit via a deflection, and then produced a magnificent display when Chelsea travelled to Manchester. Full of energy, effort and character. My average rating for him this month was 7

Gareth Barry – A couple of poor showings against Swansea and in the first leg in Lisbon, but was otherwise impressive. A contender for man of the match in the first game of the month, at home to Bolton, and recovered his poise to produce a pair of strong displays in the past couple of matches with Chelsea and Stoke. My average rating for him this month was 6.4

Yaya Touré – Started off superbly with a hugely dominant display against Bolton, but then missed the first leg of the Sporting tie through suspension and never quite hit the heights of which we know he is capable. Struggled, as the rest of the team did, with the vibrancy of Swansea’s midfield but was a powerful figure in the victory over Chelsea. My average rating for him this month was 6.6

Samir Nasri – His name springs to mind as one of the standouts from March, if only for his wonderful 90 minutes against Chelsea, in which he scored the superb winning goal, but that performance wasn’t reflective of his month as a whole. His lethargy on the ball affected us against Sporting and Swansea, whilst he failed to make an impact in the most recent game at the Britannia. My average rating for him this month was 6.25

Overall, it wasn’t our best month in terms of standout individual performances, but who gets your vote for March’s player of the month?

Man.City’s strongest weapon is their ability of lightning speed of counter-attack which is not seen for quite long on the field. To win matches against strong teams in EPL and around the world they need to re-group strengthen this weapon. We definitely will see City back to winning ways as in the starting of EPL.
