Bayern Munich v MAN CITY: The PREVIEW – City’s Probable Team

26 Sep

Fancy a flutter? Mario Gomez to score the first goal and Bayern to win 2-1 is very tempting at 30/1, whilst a goalless draw has the fantastic odds of 10/1. Feel confident that you can predict the outcome? Got an instinct who will score first? Click HERE to bet on the game.

Facing one of the best sides in the world away from home in the Champions League may fill some with trepidation, but it’s where we want to be. It’s not exactly the easiest of tasks but this is the level we desire and the type of challenge we ought to covet.

The experience against Napoli, our debut match in this competition, will stand us in good stead and this promises to be a pulsating and tense affair. Bayern have won seven of their past eight games in the Champions League, whilst they have been victorious in their past nine games in all competitions without conceding a goal.

Just three days after the Everton victory, a match which would have taken a lot out of the player both physically and mentally, Roberto Mancini may be tempted to make a couple of changes. Nigel de Jong is in the squad and although the manager said he has a chance of being named on the bench, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him start.

I expect City to have less possession than normal so we will  to hussle, harry and win the ball back and there is no-one more adept at doing that than de Jong. If Mancini decides the Dutchman isn’t fit enough to start, James Milner could come into the side to add that extra bite, possibly in place of Samir Nasri.

Manchester City 4-3-3 football formation

I could write a fair amount about Bayern’s quality and the threat they could pose, but I’ll try to keep it brief so as not to fill you with dread! We all know the world class ability of Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery and they will cause us problems, but they have stars all over the pitch. Their defence this season has been virtually impenetrable and includes former Blues, Daniel Van Buyten and Jerome ‘J-Bo’ Boateng. The former will be remembered very fondly for his brief loan spell whilst the latter never really got to grips with the Premier League.

Referee: Victor Kassai – A 36 year old Hungarian who is very highly regarded. Was the referee for the Champions League final last season.

Prediction: Bayern Munich 2 – 1 MAN CITY – I think it will be a fantastic game but one that we might lose. Goals to be scored by Mario Gomez, Franck Ribéry and Sergio Aguero.

This is where Tevez’s workrate can make a difference. Not sure Yaya would be upto it just two days after Everton game [though he is my favorite player], Tevez for Yaya in tomorrow’s game would be something to consider.

I also do hope Mancini would keep Richards and Clichy , who has been nothing short of impressive for the past games, in starting XI.

I would go for a City win by one goal difference. The only thing that Bayern can top City for it is their reputation.

i expect mancini to start zabaleta hopefully instead of barry cos of his extra pace wudnt b surprised if kolarov replaced Clichy but wiv rafina and lahm both really attacking fully backs maybe aj wud b able to exploit one of them or we cud always put milner on a wing cos of his extra work rate wiv kolarov on the other wud expect the team to b hart,Richards,Kompany,Lescott, clichy, milner, zabaleta, yaya,Kolarov,Silva,Aguero, 1-1 draw goals by thomas muller and equaliser to be scored by sub Dzeko

Please no Yaya and Barry at the same time. Both have proven not to be to their best when played twice a week. That is the area where Napoli hurt us.

might sound like a fool but i really dont fear bayern tonight. it’s no coincidence that nobody is interested in franck ribery anymore. every one of gomez’ goals last year came from inside the box, rebounds and tap ins. robben is quality but he can be contained if city arent stupid and allow him to come on his supreme left peg. havent been exactly astounded by kroos. schweinstieger admittedly is top quality. they might be keeping it tight at the back but they wont of faced an attacking threat like citys for a while. muller’s good.
come on mancini, go for it! have a feeling tevez will start tonight, dont know why.

hart richards komp lescott clichy de jong barry yaya silva aguero and tevez tonight.

well well well i have noticed teves theses last 2 or 3 weeks how his cant be bothered attitude has affected the team when he has come on as a sub hes been the worst player on the pitch and last night says it all get rid of him. I cant believe i am in total aggrement with graham souness hes a bad apple who will bring this team down stop paying him and let him rot till january then off load him onto some other mugs we certainly dont need him and play better without him around i no he did well last year but thats what hes payed very well i may add to do. this manager is the best thing thats happened to city in years so we should all back him and if there are any other so called super stars who think they are bigger than the club they can go as well. Keep going city we dont need the spoilt little brat.
