Hart - Made a good stop from one long-range Defoe effort, and a couple of other neat saves, but wasn’t tested as much as we thought we might have been. Distribution again solid - 7

Zabaleta - Surprisingly preferred ahead of Richards but unsurprisingly didn’t let the side down. Received an early booking but managed to limit Bale’s threat. Not fully fit yet but managed to get forward well down the right - 7

Kompany - Troubled more by Defoe in the final half hour than he was by Crouch. Generally fine and was authoritative in the air. Will be disappointed not to have kept a clean sheet - 7

Lescott – Again, very similar to Kompany. Rarely troubled after opening quarter of an hour and looked slightly more assured on the ball than normal - 7

Clichy – Was beaten by Lennon’s extreme pace on a couple of occasions but otherwise had a superb game. Bombed up and down the left flank, linking neatly with Nasri. A huge improvement on Kolarov - 7.5

Barry - Won’t grab any headlines, but was magnificent again. In the first half especially, he was outstanding in curtailing Spurs’s attacks and giving the ball to our more creative players. Came close with a fizzing shot and has really upped his game as the new players have come in - 8.5

Y. Touré - Barely involved in first half as he was bypassed when Spurs went forward and not needed when we had the ball. Grew into the game when he was moved further forward in second period and produced perfect cross for Dzeko’s hat-trick goal - 7

Nasri - We were thrilled that Sergio Aguero had such a good debut, but Nasri’s was just as good, if not better! Looked as if he’d been with the squad for years, such was the quality of the link up play with the likes of Dzeko and Silva. Three assists and a superb performance. Keep it up, Samir! - 9

Silva - Nasri’s arrival has taken weight off his shoulders to be the sole creator. Looked hugely impressive in his link up play with the rest of our midfield and attack, and he will enjoy the style of our play - 8.5

Aguero - Wasn’t as heavily involved as Nasri and Silva, but two perfect passes in build ups to goals (lay off to Nasri for first goal, and lay off to Yaya for third) and a goal of his own. Still doesn’t look fully match fit, so will only improve! - 7.5

Džeko - Wow. Just wow. It wasn’t just the four goals that stood out, but his pace, link up play, touch and movement. I backed him all last season and said it would take to settle, but despite predicting in the matchday programme against Swansea that he would have a productive season, I didn’t expect he would be this good! Goes from strength to strength - 10

Subs

Richards - Would have been disappointed to be overlooked in favour of Zabaleta - 6

Savic - Bit too keen to get on and received the most ridiculous booking I’ve seen in a while! Always useful to give him more Premier League experience - 6

i again think Lescott was to blame for ther goal dint attack the ball and allowed kaboul a free header only a matter of time before kolos back and he aint much better but hes more assured on the ball and has lost alot of weight which will make him faster and hopefully stronger. Bit harsh to put a dig in ther about Kolarov dont think hes had a bad game in a while and he ended last season quite well CTID

We lack a class CB to play along-side Kompany. I was hoping Boyata turns out to be our Jack Wilshere this season. Let’s hope his loan benefits him. Toure and Lescott are okay but they do not have that commanding edge as CB and may turn out to cost us dearly against top class teams. Let’s hope they do not.

Clichy is just as quick, if not quicker than Lennon and wasn’t beaten by pace but by his own lack of concentration. He is also pretty bad going foward. Though he makes up for it by using his pace to recover and put in good tackles. Kolarov is much better going foward and his performances have been very good, if not great. Idk who I consider the better of the two, but Kolarov will get much more playing time when there isn’t an extremely quick, world class winger to defend.

” backed him all last season and said it would take to settle,” WORD MISSING! :)

Clichy great game, Nasri, Silva and Aguero all brilliant, but im so glad Zabaleta was picked ahead of Richards…that now has to be out 1st XI home and away, surely???

p.s you wont believe it but i’ll praise Yaya – he looks so much more controlled as a DM rather than AM! So happy with his eprformance for once!
