Jack Grealish Linked With Move To City

This is a post from Tonette Pringer.

In a transfer window full of speculation, the latest superstar linked with a big-money move to City is Aston Villa’s creative midfelder Jack Grealish. With noise gathering around the potential arrival of Harry Kane, talk is rife that Pep Guardiola is also keen to strengthen his attacking options by moving for Grealish.

Undoubtedly Villa’s star man, Grealish has also become something of a poster boy for England over the last few weeks as the national team competes in the Euros. Initially named on the bench for the opening couple of fixtures, the clamour for Grealish to start has been impossible to avoid – with many fans viewing him as England’s chief creator and representing the best chance of delivering silverware on the international stage. His qualities are clear, and it easy to understand what Guardiola finds attractive. With such a distinctive style and philosophy coursing through this City squad, Grealish’s ability in possession, the ease with which he carries the ball and creates space for others, and his eye for a defence-splitting pass, are all traits that Guardiola would relish.

The question is where he would fit in. Guardiola has a squad packed with talent, especially in forward areas – and so the arrival of Grealish would probably be at the expense of a departure elsewhere among the players, with Bernardo Silva the most likely to be on his way, if media talk is to be believed. Grealish could then provide another option to start from the left of a front three, freeing up Phil Foden or Raheem Sterling to operate from the right, or he could slot in to a more central position, alongside either Kevin De Bruyne or Ilkay Gundogan.

It promises to be an exciting few weeks for Grealish as he attempts to drive England to victory on the international stage – but he then has a major call to make, whether he wants to continue in his comfort zone at Aston Villa as their captain and key figure, or whether he wants to challenge himself at the very highest level and become a part of City’s quest for further honours. Only time will tell.
