Sergio Aguero Is A Golden Boot Contender Again

3 Sep

This is a guest post from Jo Northwood.

Saturday saw another comfortable City victory against a courageous and impressive Brighton side, albeit one that lacked a ruthless touch in front of goal. The visitors appeared energised by new manager Graham Potter and his way of playing – of passing the ball out from the back, remaining in control of possession and inviting the opposition to press out of position – was similar to the manner in which Pep Guardiola instructs his own players.

Saturday also saw another brace from Sergio Aguero, who has started the campaign in red-hot goalscoring form. His first strike was typical Aguero, latching on to a loose ball inside the area and drifting past a couple of defenders before unleashing a shot past the Brighton stopper. His second owed much to his individual brilliance, a curling right-footed effort that was caressed into the top corner to stamp City’s authority firmly on proceedings.

With the Argentinean in such a rich vein of form, he stands a wonderful chance of being the Premier League’s top scorer this season, and you can check his odds and receive boosts by heading to Sign Up Bonuses.

His main rivals could come from both inside and outside the club. Raheem Sterling had a quieter afternoon against Brighton, but has caught the eye already this season with his finishing and overall play – whilst with Kevin De Bruyne back to his best, he is contributing goals and assists aplenty… and so City’s other attacking players will be awaiting his perfect service each match.

Elsewhere, the usual suspects of Harry Kane and Mo Salah will be there or thereabouts once again as the big club continue to dominate matches, create chances and back their big-hitters to power them to victory. Jamie Vardy could be another name to look out for, with the former England striker rejuvenated by the arrival of Brendan Rodgers to Leicester, and he has begun the campaign sharply.

But with City in such form and swatting aside opponents with such ease, few would bet against Aguero from ending the season on top of the charts. For City and Pep Guardiola, they must hope that Aguero continues what he has started.

City, who are chasing a third straight title, is down in numbers in the heart of their defense and have already lost at Norwich and drawn with Spurs before losing out to Wolves at home.

Liverpool and City go head-to-head for the first time on November 10 at Anfield, but before then both sides face three big fixtures before they collide on Merseyside in what will be the biggest game of the season so far.
