Four potential summer signings for Manchester City

This is a guest post from Richard Thomson.

Manchester City head into the summer on the back of a highly successful season after clinching the Premier League title in superb style under the guidance of esteemed Spanish tactician Pep Guardiola.

The Sky Blues spent vast amounts last summer in order to strengthen and boost their chances of going all the way domestically, which paid off in the end, but they will now once again look to delve into the summer transfer market.

Guardiola has reportedly already outlined certain transfer targets which he desires in order for the club to go on and attempt to regain their top-flight crown next campaign.

Man City dominated proceedings throughout this past term and they are now regarded as firm odds-on 4/7 favourites in the football betting to reign supreme again next season.

Ahead of that campaign Guardiola will be hoping to strengthen his roster even further, so here are four potential signings for the top tier champions.

Jorginho

First up on the list is Napoli midfielder Jorginho, who is seemingly Guardiola’s number one priority this summer during the transfer market.

The Brazilian-born Italy international midfielder has hugely impressed for Napoli throughout this past campaign in Serie A, clearly catching the eye of Man City during proceedings.

It’s believed that the Sky Blues have already had an opening bid rejected by the Italian outfit, but Guardiola is likely to push hard to get his man this summer in a bid to bolster his central ranks.

Riyad Mahrez

Leicester City Riyad Mahrez has long been tipped to depart his current employers and join Manchester City, who have previously had bids turned down for his services.

One of the biggest ongoing transfer sagas of the January window was Mahrez’s supposed switch from the King Power Stadium to the Etihad, with the latter having made an offer and the player outlining clearly that he wanted to leave.

It never materialised then but this summer looks more than likely of that deal finally going through, with all parties keen on resolving the matter and moving on.

Jayden Braaf

Next up is an unknown prospect that has been linked with arriving at the Etihad in the near future, after rising to prominence and becoming one of the hottest young starlets around.

PSV Eindhoven striker Jayden Braaf may only be turning 16 years of age this coming August, but many are circling for his signature, including Guardiola’s Man City.

Tipped as one for the future, the Dutch wonderkid has been a standout star for his club as well as the Netherlands under-15s and has also caught the eye of capital club Chelsea in recent months. Though, the Sky Blues are frontrunners to oversee his arrival at the club.

Robert Lewandowski

Securing the signing of Bayern Munich ace Robert Lewandowski is a mouth-watering prospect for Man City fans.

It seems such a mammoth transfer could only come to fruition if current marksman Sergio Aguero was to depart, but that has been mentioned in the past and he recently admitted he would like to return to Atletico Madrid.

Lewandowski has recently claimed he wants to leave Germany, too, so watch this space.
