Swansea 0 – 0 MAN CITY – PLAYER RATINGS

5 May

Hart - A very comfortable afternoon for him. Barely tested but when he was, he made sure to be a safe and reliable pair of hands - 6

Zabaleta – Given a few troubles by the movement and dribbling skills of Hernandez but improved as the game wore on and his bursts down the right were a regular feature in the second half - 6

Kompany - Michu’s ability to drift off him and out of vision caused him the odd moment of panic, but he was excellent in the air and read the game very well - 6

Nastasic – Very fortunate not to concede a penalty after clattering into Michu in the first half and he uncharacteristically looked a touch ruffled for periods. Recovered well at the end and was authoritative whenever crosses came into the box – 6

Clichy – Enjoyed a healthy tussle with Dyer, getting the better of the winger for the most part thanks to his terrific recovery pace. Linked well with various City attackers down the left but couldn’t find that killer cross - 6

Barry – Failed in the first half to provide cover in front of the back four and that put us under pressure, but he improved markedly and was his usual self after the break. Mopped up and started attacks - 6

Y. Touré - Withdrawn at half-time after sustaining a slight knock in the warm-up, but if that were the case, he should never have started. Was symptomatic of everything poor about City in the first half: laboured, lethargic and lacking in any sort of drive - 5

Milner - Tried hard out wide and flashed one early cross into the middle but he was fairly limited when moved into a more central role. Lacked the guile of range or passing to really influence proceedings - 6

Nasri - After a recent spell of more penetrative, incisive form, this was a return to the Nasri of the past two seasons. Very slow in possession, no ingenuity around the box and shruggled off the ball far too easily and far too often - 5

Silva – The only player who hinted at sparkling. Involved in all our endeavours and although he missed one very presentable opportunity late on, he was still the most likely to find the breakthrough - 7

Aguero - Isolated in the first half, he found it tough to have any sort of impact on his own, but was more active after the break. Didn’t have any clear chances to score but worked hard - 6

Subs

Dzeko – Miss of the season? Fluffed his only real chance in quite laughable circumstances, somehow volleying wide from a couple of yards out - 5

Tévez – It was surprising to see him introduced so late, bearing in mind we’d been lacking his spark and grittiness throughout - No time to mark

Rodwell – A brief substitute appearance - No time to mark

I’m sure one or 2 (or 5) of our players played this match with an eye on Wembley but, with Chelsea winning at the library today, that’s something we can ill afford. Must win almost every game now. That impinges on our ability to field youngsters. Disappointing.

We need to win 2 of the last 3 but am sure we will win all 3.

As I say every week….same players need to be got rid of in a couple of weeks…and nothing has changed since the beginning of the season!

Looking forward to a successful day at Wembley next week! C’mon City!

5 may be charitable for Dzeko. Anymore, he looks mentally on the plane to Dortmund every time out.
