'As a fan I am allowed my relentless negativity, a negativity that has evolved, developed and embedded itself in my psyche through three decades of failure and utter f***wittery from my football club. I’ll moan when I want. The players do not have this excuse. They should always, as the song goes, fight to the end.'

Love this ha ha! So relatable!! :)

Im afraid Johnny you have seen this from 1 point of view. The problem we have runs much deeper than one result against Southampton, that was just the straw that broke the camals back. It wouldnt be an exaggeration to say thats the most we've been dominated in over 2 years, but that wasnt solely down to how well you played. Just as you think that performance has been coming, its the same with us in that the ineptitude and sheer lack of qulaity that we produced in 90 minutes has been coming also. You should heed your own advice about not being so narrow minded.

Johnny. this has nothing to do with the fact that Saints are worthy of being on the pitch with City or not. You may need to look at things from a different angle. Assume that Saints put over 1 billion dollars into their Club and squad, then after a few games against the bottom team [QPR], a mid table team [Liverpool who are the shadow of what they once were], and Saints [a newly promoted team], you realize you are not getting the results that should be an indication of the investment you made. Then you start asking questions on what have gone wrong on your side. You have fantastic team and play a great football and I personally wish your team the best.

That article makes me laugh. Not because I am enjoying Man City failing to beat United to the title as I woukld love to see that again.

As a Southampton fan, the funny bit is in the continued assumption that Saints are an outfit that are not worthy of being on the same pitch as City. We have just been promoted after back to back promotions from League 1. We have a squad that has grown with the promotions and a few aditions that are starting to gel. We have a new manager that plays a more aggressive version of a similar brand of football that Adkins introduced to the team and we are getting better with every performance.

Currently we sit 6 points off 10th place and I can see us getting into the top 10 based on the brand of football we play and how we play it. Not every team has the quality in depth of Man City or Man United but despite the narrow loss to the champions elect, we made them look average in the second half and City looked less than average - destroyed wouldn't be exagerating!

The media wants to begin recognising so called smaller clubs for their own achievements and not just saying that City had an off day. Anyone that has been watching Saints of late will tell you that this has been coming a while - and will keep coming.
